Supporting Public Schools & Protecting Our Community’s Future
1. No to Charter Schools – Yes to Strong Public Schools
Our public schools are the foundation of our community, and we must keep our tax dollars where they belong—supporting all students, not just a select few. Charter schools take funding away from public schools, yet they don’t have the same level of accountability or transparency. Instead of diverting resources, we need to invest in improving our public schools, ensuring smaller class sizes, better teacher pay, and updated resources for every student. Strong public schools benefit everyone—students, families, and homeowners alike.
2. The Risk of Decreasing Property Taxes
Lower property taxes might sound appealing at first, but the long-term consequences can be devastating. Our schools, emergency services, and infrastructure all depend on these funds. When property taxes decrease, so does funding for the things that keep our community strong—leading to overcrowded schools, understaffed police and fire departments, and crumbling roads. In the end, weakened public services hurt home values and drive people away. A strong community requires stable, reliable funding.
3. Increased Local Taxes: The Hidden Cost
When property tax revenues drop, the money still has to come from somewhere—and that often means higher local taxes. Sales taxes, income taxes, and other fees may increase to make up for the lost revenue, shifting the burden to hardworking families and small businesses. Instead of playing a game of shifting taxes, we should focus on responsible, community-first budgeting that protects essential services without overburdening taxpayers.
